TV Remote Control · Smart TV ("we", "our", or "us") built this application as a free and easy-to-use remote control tool for Smart TV devices. This page explains what permissions we request, how we use them, and how we protect your information.
Summary of Commitment: We respect your privacy. Our app does not collect, sell, or store personal information unless you explicitly provide it. All core remote functions run entirely locally on your home Wi-Fi network.
1. Information Collection and Use
To function properly, TV Remote Control · Smart TV may request the following permissions on your device:
Local Network Access
Why we request it:
The app requires access to your local Wi-Fi network to discover and connect to compatible Smart TV devices on the same network. This allows your phone to function as a remote control and communicate with your TV.
What is accessed:
The app scans for compatible Smart TVs using standard local network discovery technologies such as Bonjour/mDNS. This process happens entirely on your device.
We do not:
- Send or upload your local network data to our servers
- Store or share your local IP address, TV device name, or network details
How to control it:
You can enable or disable this permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. If disabled, the app may not be able to find or connect to your TV.
"TV Remote Control · Smart TV needs access to your local network to discover and connect to compatible Smart TVs."
Microphone Access
Why we request it:
Some features may allow you to use voice commands or voice search on supported TV devices.
What is accessed:
Only audio captured when you actively use the voice feature inside the app.
We do not:
- Record audio in the background
- Access your microphone without your explicit action
- Store or share your voice recordings unless explicitly required for the feature you use
How to control it:
You can manage this permission anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
"Microphone access is used to support voice control and voice search features."
Speech Recognition Access
Why we request it:
If the app provides voice search or speech-based input, speech recognition may be used to convert your spoken words into text commands.
What is accessed:
Only the speech you choose to input while using the voice feature.
We do not:
- Continuously listen to your speech
- Use speech recognition without your action
- Store recognized speech for unrelated purposes
How to control it:
You can manage this permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition.
"Speech recognition is used to convert your voice input into commands or search text."
Photos Access
Why we request it:
Some features may let you choose photos, videos, or other media from your device, such as for casting or sharing content to your Smart TV.
What is accessed:
Only the specific photos or videos you explicitly select.
We do not:
- Access your photo library without your action
- Scan or upload your media automatically
- Share any media without your explicit consent
How to control it:
You can manage this in Settings → Privacy → Photos, where you can choose None, Selected Photos, or All Photos.
